My Story
I was born and raised in Basel, Switzerland, to Australian parents. As a result, I grew up bilingual and am fluent in both English and German, with proficiency in French.
I studied film production at SAE in Byron Bay, Australia, and earned my bachelor’s degree in February 2009.
During my studies, I chose to specialize in camera and lighting work. My dedication and passion for this field provided me with opportunities to work on several projects beyond the regular curriculum. In 2008, I worked as a clapper-loader on the 8mm short film Cane Cutter, served as a camera operator for a backstage documentary of the Byron Bay Blues Fest, and contributed as a camera operator on a music video project by Tom Misner, the founder and owner of SAE.
For my final project, I focused on the Steadicam, gaining a deep understanding of its mechanics and routine use, which significantly enhanced my expertise with this equipment.
After graduating in early 2009, I worked as a camera assistant and grip on two short films, Wide Open and Dog on a Leash, directed by Sydney filmmaker Greg Punch.
In January 2010, I began working with Astramedia in Switzerland. A year later, I joined XMedia, Switzerland, initially as a freelance camera operator and later as a full-time team member. In these roles, I produced short promotional videos for small to medium-sized businesses under tight constraints—typically within a five-hour timeframe and without prior location scouting. This experience honed my adaptability, efficiency, and resourcefulness. Additionally, I gained valuable experience in directing, art directing, and producing, while further solidifying my expertise in camera and lighting operations.
In late June 2013, I relocated to Los Angeles. During my time there, I worked as a second camera assistant, first camera assistant, and camera operator on two feature films (Cockroaches and Sex and Violence). I also worked as a first camera assistant on commercials, music videos, and TV shows, and as a camera operator on the documentary Hollywood Hustle. Furthermore, I served as director of photography on a range of projects, including TV pilots (Beer Trek, Crude, and Fruit Fly), a short film (Grave), a teaser/trailer (Stilettos and Steel), a feature film (UnWholly Moments), and various music videos, promotional videos, and a music documentary.
In early 2020, I returned to Switzerland, where I have been working as a freelance director of photography since.
